This is a pair of Mormon Pioneer Dolls. Made in 1947 for the Utah Centennial, sold at Mormon Handicraft in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were designed and created by artist Johanna Chavre.
The dolls stand 8 to 9'' high, with molded clay faces & hands. They have wire armature wrapped bodies, making them flexible. They also have painted faces & molded hair.
The man wears a black suit & felt hat. The woman wears a pioneer dress, bonnet & flannel petticoat. She also holds her Baby. Her paper hang tag is still intact.
