This doll is Sweet Violet. Made by Madame Alexander in 1951-54. She is 18" high, all hard plastic. She has an early Cissy face, and a Winnie/Binnie Walker type body. She is completely jointed, with extra ball joints at her knees, elbows & wrists. This is a very unusual body type, used only for the Sweet Violet dolls. Marked: Alexander on her neck.

Her face is lovely, with soft, bisque-like coloring & original paint. She has bright blue sleep eyes (this eye color was also limited to the Sweet Violet dolls), intact upper lashes, lashes painted below her eyes, feathered brows & ruby lips.

She wears her original auburn wig, parted in the center with bangs. The wig is still soft & shiny, in the original set.

Sweet Violet wears her original tagged outfit. This includes a blue polished cotton dress with puff sleeves & sheer white yoke, trimmed with tiny ball fringe. Also a stiffened cotton, cream colored bonnet with blue florals & ribbon trim. Plus white panties, petticoat, socks & black center-snap velour shoes.
